The nomination period for the position of Chief of Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation officially closed on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Thank you to all community members who submitted application packages or encouraged other members to step forward for leadership.
What Happens Next?
In accordance with the Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation Custom Election Code, all submitted applications are currently under review to verify that candidates meet the eligibility requirements set out in the Code.
Once this review process is complete, an official update will be published to inform the community of the next steps:
- If more than one candidate is certified, the official List of Candidates will be published and the Chief Election Meeting will proceed on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
- If only one candidate is certified, that individual will be declared elected by acclamation and the Election Meeting will be cancelled.
