Building Resilience

Projects & Initiatives

Carbon Credit Initiative

Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation is developing a carbon credit initiative that supports climate solutions while creating new economic opportunities. This work focuses on innovative approaches to storing carbon, reducing wildfire risk, and participating in green markets.

Indigenous Park

We are exploring the creation of a Lhoosk’uz-managed Indigenous Park. This initiative emphasizes land stewardship, cultural protection, and community involvement, with land guardianship and sustainable revenue opportunities as key components.

Bioenergy & Energy Security

The Nation is advancing a biomass combined heat and power project that uses local forest waste to generate clean energy. This project supports energy sovereignty, reduces reliance on diesel, lowers emissions, and creates local employment.

Wildfire Resilience

Wildfire preparedness and resilience remain a priority. Ongoing work includes planning, community education, and fuel management to help protect homes, infrastructure, and culturally important lands.

Climate Action

Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation is advancing climate action initiatives that strengthen community resilience, reduce emissions, and support energy independence.

Our work includes clean energy planning, wildfire preparedness, emergency coordination, and on-the-ground projects that improve safety and sustainability in the community. We collaborate with regional partners and technical experts to develop practical, community-led solutions.

These efforts are supported through external funding and are designed to create long-term benefits for current and future generations.
