Back-to-School Funding Available August 27, 2026

Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation is pleased to provide financial support to registered members with children as families prepare for the school year.

Support will be available for pick up beginning tomorrow, August 27, 2026.

Back-to-School Allowance for Children Ages 5–18

Based on available funding, registered members with school-aged children between 5 and 18 years old will receive a $500 allowance per child.

  • For children 12 and older, cheques will be issued in the child’s name. This is intended to encourage independence and give youth an opportunity to take part in preparing for the school year.
  • For children under 12, cheques will be issued in the parent or guardian’s name.

Support for Children Under 5

Through limited grant funding received for quality enhancement, registered members with children under 5 will receive a combination of:

  • Walmart gift card
  • Save-On-Foods gift card
  • Gas card

This funding is intended to help families with costs related to school and early learning supplies, clothing, childcare, food security, safe water and transportation.

Funding for these programs is limited and support is being provided based on available funding.

We hope this helps Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation families and children start the new school year with the supplies and support they need.
