Kluskus IR 1 is not on Alert or in any immediate danger, this is just a community update regarding the fires in the territory. We will be posting updates as we receive them from BC Wildfire Service and the Fire Centres.
Lhoosk’uz Dene Nation continues to monitor wildfire activity in and around the area. Staff are checking the BC Wildfire Service website regularly and monitoring heat signatures daily using NASA’s FIRMS (Fire Information for Resource Management System).
The fires around Kluskoil Lakes have now been classified as either Under Control or Being Held, which means they are not expected to spread beyond their current boundaries under current or forecasted conditions.
Community members may still notice smoke in the area. Depending on wind direction, this smoke may be coming from the Anahim Lake fire, the Kluskoil Lakes fires, or other wildfires burning farther south.
We will continue monitoring conditions and will share further updates if there are any significant changes that could affect the community.
