The Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation Natural Resources Department advises members that the Sockeye salmon fishery has been extended until August 19, 2026. The previous opening was scheduled for August 6–12.
Fishing for Chinook (Spring) salmon using dip nets also remains open until September 22, 2026.
Permitted locations for the Chinook fishery include the main stem of the Fraser River from Alexandria upstream to the confluence with the Blackwater River, as well as the Quesnel River downstream from the B.C. Rail bridge in Quesnel.
Members are asked to report their Chinook catch numbers to the fish monitors or the Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation Natural Resources Department. Catch information will remain anonymous and is used for overall fisheries monitoring.
