Wildfire Update Monday July 27

Kluskus IR 1 is not on Alert or in any immediate danger, this is just a community update regarding the fires in the territory. We will be posting updates as we receive them from BC Wildfire Service and the Fire Centres.

Saturday was a positive day for crews responding to the Batnuni-area wildfires.

Fire activity on fires G40952 and G41112 remained mostly at Rank 1 and Rank 2, with some areas of Rank 3 activity. The lower fire behaviour gave crews more time to make progress in important areas, including building guard along the south flank of both fires.

Recent rain and reduced winds have also helped improve conditions. Additional crews and equipment are being deployed to both fires, and responders are using the cooler, wetter weather to make as much progress as possible before temperatures begin to rise again.

The weather outlook for the Quesnel area is favourable over the next week, with cooler temperatures and chances of precipitation.

The G49 fire near Tsacha Lake is no longer showing heat signatures on the FIRMS satellite system and is no longer listed on the BC Wildfire Service website.
