Memo: Call for Expressions of Interest – Election Appeal Board – 2026-07-14 – Final

The Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation is seeking expressions of interest from individuals interested in serving on the Election Appeal Board.

The Election Appeal Board is an independent body responsible for hearing and deciding appeals related to the Nation’s election process. If an appeal is submitted under the Election Code, the Board reviews the information presented, determines whether the Election Code has been followed, and makes a fair and impartial decision. The Appeal Board helps ensure the integrity, transparency, and accountability of Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation elections.

Appeal Board Composition

The Election Appeal Board consists of three members:

  • One voting member of the Nation who is at least 60 years of age.
  • One person who is at least 19 years of age and is not a member of the Nation.
  • One voting member who is familiar with the Nation’s traditions, values, and language.

All members appointed to the Appeal Board are required to sign an Oath of Office before carrying out their duties.

Term of Appointment

Appeal Board members serve from the date of their appointment until they resign or until Council appoints a new Appeal Board. Council must appoint a new Appeal Board no later than February 1 of each year.
