The Nation would like to advise the membership that there are currently two vacant Council positions, one each for the Boyd and Baptiste/Cassam family clans.
Each family clan is responsible for choosing their own representative Councillor. Members who belong to the clans with vacant positions and who are interested in putting their name forward for Council are encouraged to do so.
Before beginning any campaign activities, prospective candidates are asked to seek guidance from a sitting Councillor. This step is important to ensure that all campaigning and nomination efforts are carried out in accordance with the Nation’s Custom Election Code, which is being prepared for ratification, and in a respectful and consistent manner.
Council and Administration wish to encourage participation in leadership while also ensuring that the process remains transparent, fair, and aligned with our Custom Code and governance practices. Members with questions about eligibility or process are encouraged to reach out to Council for clarification.
