Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation is pleased to announce the official results of the Chief Election held on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Following the conclusion of the Election Meeting, votes cast both in person at the Quesnel Seniors Centre and securely online through OneFeather were verified and combined by the Electoral Officer in accordance with the Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation Custom Election Code (2026).

Having received the highest total number of votes, Jeudi Etherington has been officially elected as Chief of Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation.

Term of Office
As stated in Section 9 of the Custom Election Code, the Chief (like all council members) will serve for an indeterminate term: “until such time as they vacate or are removed from their position in accordance with this Code.”

Next steps & swearing-in
Before officially assuming the duties of leadership and exercising authority on behalf of the Nation, the Chief-elect must complete the following requirements in accordance the Custom Election Code:
Oath of Office: Within 30 days, the Chief-elect must promptly swear or affirm the official Oath of Office before a justice of the peace, notary public, or duly appointed commissioner for taking oaths. If this does not happen, the position of Chief will again be posted as vacant, and another election will take place.
